These Diamond stitching chisels are used to punch holes in one go for hand sewing. Because there are several teeth in a row, it is a lot faster than pre-piercing all the holes with an awl.
These sewing teeth are made of quality steel and are quite strong. Beautifully finished with a black electrocoat to prevent surface corrosion and provide durability.
Make sure that you pull the sewing tooth straight up out of the leather. If you pull the chisel out at an angle or move it back and forth, you run the risk of the teeth breaking off.
The book 'Lacing & Stitching for leathercraft' and the book 'the Art of Handsewing Leather' contains a clear explanation with text and illustrations of handsewing with leather. In the related products on this page below you can find the links to these books.
The spacing in between the prongs is listed. However this actually means that de stitchspacing is approx. 1 to 1,5 mm bigger. example: 2 mm spacing is a stitchspacing of approx. 3 mm.
